Accident Only:


Accident Only coverage covers only that: accidents such as broken legs, snake bites, or accidental swallowing. Accident Only coverage is cheaper than Best Benefit, typically only about $6 a month for cats and $9 a month for dogs.

    • Direct Vet Pay: Customers can opt-in to have their covered claims paid out directly to their chosen vet hospital. If your pet gets sick or hurt, there’s no need to drain your checking account or max out your credit card: Pets Best has your back.
    • 24/7 Vet Hotline: Have a pet question? Access to a 24/7 veterinary hotline is included with every coverage option, meaning you can have your questions answered quickly and accurately.
    • Short Waiting Period: Accident coverage kicks in only three days after the Policy Effective Date, a full 11 days shorter than most competitors.

Coverage Limitations

Pets Best coverage is narrowed by some limitations:

    • Pre-Existing Conditions: Pets Best insurance does not cover an illness, injury, or other medical problem that has an onset before the completion of the 14-day waiting period.
    • Waiting Period: For most plans, coverage does not begin until the waiting period is complete. For accidents, the waiting period is 3 days; for illnesses, the waiting period is 14 days. Waiting periods begin after the Policy Effective Date.
    • Elective and Preventive Procedures: Only a limited number of preventive procedures can be covered with the Essential Wellness add-on.
    • Parasites: Limited coverage is available for parasite prevention via the Essential Wellness add-on.
    • Non-veterinary expenses, food, special diets, vitamins/supplements
    • Herbal, holistic, and experimental therapies/medicationss
    • Miscellaneous: Additional coverage limitations may be included in your contract. Be sure to read over your contract carefully before signing.

How to File a Claim

Customers can file a claim quickly using the Pets Best online portal.

Once the claim is accepted, Pets Best reimburses the customer up to 90% of their vet bill. Alternatively, Pets Best can pay out the vet directly.
