    • Preventative Care Option: Stop complications in their tracks. For an extra fee, Spot customers can cover care options designed to prevent illness or injury.

Coverage Limitations

Spot pet insurance coverage is limited by certain scenarios. Learn about a few key limitations, below:

    • Pre-Existing Conditions: As a general rule, pet insurance companies cannot provide coverage for pre-existing conditions. Spot defines a pre-existing condition as a health problem that occurs before coverage is effective or during a waiting period. Luckily for some plan holders, Spot does not consider a condition to be pre-existing if the pet has been cured of the condition and without treatment for it or symptoms of it for 180 days, with the exception of knee and ligament conditions.
    • Waiting Period: Spot has a 14-day waiting period before its coverage officially begins. If your pet was to suffer from a medical problem during the waiting period, the medical problem would be labeled as a pre-existing condition and not be eligible for coverage.
    • Pet Age: Animals must be 8 weeks or older to be considered for Spot pet insurance.
    • Miscellaneous: Insurance contracts tend to include additional limitations that may inhibit your pet’s coverage. Be sure to read your contract carefully before signing.
